A clutch master cylinder is a component found on vehicles equipped with manual transmission, and serves as the pump for the hydraulically operated clutch system. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch master cylinder pushes fluid through the system down to the clutch slave cylinder so that it may disengage the clutch It's highly unlikely you are dealing with a clutch or transmission issue. It is probably one of there things: 1 Air in the system (most likely) 2 Bad master or slave or hose. 3 Broken, cracked, bent, etc clutch fork. I would bleed the system. With clutch hydraulics you have to go very slow. Do a two man bleed but don't pump it

T If the fluid looks dirty, bleed it from the clutch valve underneath your vehicle. If it still looks clear, simply top off the reservoir tank as needed with new fluid. Bleeding the valve requires you to jack up the vehicle's front end and get under it. Once you find the valve, you attach a rubber hose to it and press the clutch to drive out. The clutch disc is a plate with friction material on either side designed to grab the flywheel and pressure plate, connecting the engine to the transmission. The pressure plate is what allows the clutch to be released so that gears can be changed. The pressure plate, clutch disc, and flywheel all eventually need replacement due to wear A leaky or collapsed clutch hose can cause difficulty shifting. It may also cause the transmission to grind notably when changing gears. 2. Low clutch fluid or leaks. Another symptom of a bad or failing clutch hose is low clutch fluid. Clutch hoses are often made of rubber, which can dry and wear out over time and develop leaks
To bleed the clutch hose on my 1958 TR3A, I fill the reservoir and open the bleed valve on the slave cylinder. The fluid drains down by gravity and when it comes out the bottom, I know that the hose is full. Then I close the bottom bleed valve and add what's needed to top up the reservoir and it's all done. Edited April 7, 2013 by Don Elliot The clutch slave cylinder position creates a pocket of air and many fail the attempt to bleed. I have done it with a cheap Mighty Vac --OEM or get a cheap Harbor Freight unit attached to the bleed valve on the slave and keep the MC reservoir filled
